'I'm happy now,Flash.I'm dead'

I sure do enjoy a cheery quote to get me in the mood for my review, don't you?It was a monstrously huge week for releases-again,why do they feel the need to unleash so many books at once?Surely they can spread them out a bit?-so let's get down to the nitty gritty, shall we?Some of these may be short...else it may get very long indeed...
What to begin with was a problem when there were so many good books released. The honour fell to issue 6 of Chew, which began a new storyarc whilst not ignoring the… Continue

'My mother...told me never to get in a car with a known terrorist assassin holding a giant gun'

I'm back again, filling up my blog quota :0) Here comes another dose of overly verbose reviews (I can afford to be verbose this week;next week there's fooking loads out and I'll have to avoid the review turning into a monster). So let's get cracking with the knacking, shall we?
The pile this week was headed up by a bit of a surprise:Adventure Comics issue 4.The chief reason it made the starting block was the absence of artist Francis Manapul, replaced with Jerry Ordway for this Blackest Night tie in… Continue

Leeds Comic Convention 2009

After a very long day that had me taking in the sights of Manchester and Leeds, and also of carrying a heavy bag of comics around the Leeds convention itself,I was glad to get home last night and give my feet a rest.Less than 24 hours later, here I am,while it's fresh in my mind...
This was the first time I'd been to the Leeds con;my mate had been last year when they had Mark Millar and as he was going again this year,I decided to take the trip. This was my fourth con this year, but was it the best?… Continue

'I was expecting scary,not gay'

It's that time again, now that the cold and the hangover are either finally going or have thankfully gone,my head is clear once more to recall what I thought of the funnybooks this week.Another quiet week of four colour nonsense, meaning my wallet could actually think about buying xmas gifts for others (!!).Having now seen the list of books out in a fortnight,I don't think my wallet will be thanking me for long...
Let's get the first book out of its bag;it'sDark X-Men issue 1.Yep,after the rubbish… Continue

Demotivational posters

Ok, this may be a bit off-topic, but recently I discovered a website where you could manufacture your own demotivational posters. You know the type - a picture with a black background and some clever and witty epithet below the picture. I have thousands stored on my pc, some funnier than others, but, when I discovered I could make my own, there was no stopping me. Here's some samples - let me know what you think..… Continue

'We don't need weapons,my little angel of death. We have science.'

Welcome back to the blog that never ends.Blame the comics people-if they didn't make the bastards then I wouldn't read them and then I wouldn't review them. It's a vicious circle.
If anyone read last weeks tome then they'd know that it was such a busy week that I had to leave some books behind. Those few were rescued this week and can be quickly reviewed before we get into the swing of this weeks stuff:
Dark Reign:Young Avengers issue 5 mostly confused me...and then I noticed that I hadn't bought… Continue

'If I'm Wonder Woman and you're Superman, what's that make him?'

Hey...I just realised that I'm writing this on Hallowen and it's the first blog review in ages that hasn't featured a morbid or grisly quote up top!Is this the one day of the year when my thoughts aren't all about misery, death and pain?Well maybe...
Busy busy week for releases this week,to the point where I had to leave some books behind to grab next week.I may seem like I'm made of money, but even this week was stretching it.Plus I went to see Adrian Edmondson and The Bad Shepherds play last nig… Continue

'One WILL die.And the other will dine on the flesh of his enemy'

I know,I know-I keep finding these lovely, inspiring quotes in my weekly comics to use as titles to these reviews.I'm sure you all find them beautiful and they draw you in to whatever ramblings I've typed up this week.Relatively quiet week this week, but I notice that there's an absolute glut of titles out next week,so that may explain it...
Top of the pile this week was Blackest Night:Superman issue 3.This final issue of the series made up for the lacklustre performance of the first 2 issues by b… Continue

'It's my father's eyes. And God help me,I'm going to have to burn them'

That's cheery :0)
In the immortal words of Britney's Pears (that's not a typo, that's what I call her),oops I did it again.I missed a week.Last weeks review seems to have disappeared off the map.It wasn't even a massive week for releases, but there were some big titles out.So before I get cracking with this weeks job lot,and instead of typing up a Marvel Two In One style effort combining the two weeks purchases,I'll quickly run through my thoughts on what I picked up last week...
Absolution issue… Continue

'Do not let the last thing I see be that hair'

Thank goodness for a few days off work otherwise I'd never have gotten the time to read this weeks comics AND do both days at the BICS.It seems like a good time was had by all that went, judging by the comments on the site. And so to my now hazy thoughts on this past weeks purchases...
Ugh.Marvel Zombies Return issue 5 was bought purely to have the set,as I'd made the stoopid mistake of buying past issue 1.This series has really been the death knell for the franchise, alhough I see that Marvel aren… Continue

Been Down long time

Hello again,
For those not in the know, I've been away for ages. Mainly due to myself & the wife deciding to call it quits & seperating. best fecking move I ever made. Shes a nice enough girl but it wasn't working & she hated comics so she HAD to go.
anyway so now I've moved into a 3 bedroom, 2 bedroom & a comic room house. just me & the doggie. She wasn't getting the mutt! I'm still oving stuff out of the house, its backing breaking stuff. First out was all the comics, just… Continue
