Golden Age Comics: Free Digital Downloads Tutorial

Just a short tutorial on how to use the Golden Age Comics Free Digital Downloads website.

Go to the Golden Age Comics website at http://goldenagecomics.co.uk


You will need to log in to the site before you can start using it. You should see this option at the top of the screen above the logo. If it is your first time using the site you will be asked to register – it’s free – when you go to log in.

After you have logged in you can use the Search option to look for comics that are available or scroll down the page to see what is there. In this example I am going to download some of the Wow comics published by Fawcett in the 1940’s.

Clicking on the link takes me to the page that shows me which issues are on the site, as well as providing other information such as file size and who uploaded the file.

Remember that individual members have uploaded all of the files on the site.

In this instance I will download issue #17 of Wow. When I click on the link I will be provided with other information about the file, including comments, if any, that have been left by users of the site.

Take note that because the files have all been scanned in by individuals the quality of the images will not always be consistent.

The download link is in the bottom right of the corner. Once you click on it the download box should then appear and you can start to save the file.

Sometimes you might get the following error message:

To rectify this do the following:

Scroll to the top of the page near where you logged in and you should see a link that says USER CP – click that once.

The next page will show you your download limits. If you go back to the comics download page everything should work OK now. You may need to go through the same process with the User CP link every time you go back to the site in a 24 hour period.

To view and read the comics you will need a piece of software such as CDISPLAY to look at them.

To have the pages as individual image files you will need a piece of softare like IZARC to unzip.

Both of the above pieces can be obtained for free online or just ask me and I will upload them to this site.
